Burst Testing of Tubes and Profiles

A flexible test stand for the investigation of the bursting behavior of pipes and profiles was developed for the hydraulic press with high pressure unit at the PtU. Two axial cylinders with a maximum force of 1,500 kN each and a tapered pressure adapter are used to introduce the high-pressure medium into the sample at up to 3,000 bar. An open tool structure allows the observation of the sample's expansion with optical measurement equipment.

Using a grooved tool plate, processes for hydroforming of tubes and profiles can also be carried out. In this case, the axial cylinders can be used for a material feed in axial direction.
