This year's student competition “Steel Flies!” was held on 25th and 26th June at METEC fair in Düsseldorf. Fourteen teams from five German universities and the Ain Shams University from Cairo/Egypt competed against each other to achieve the longest flight distance and flight duration with a flying object made purely out of steel.

On June 5th and 6th, 2019, the Institute of Production Engineering and Forming Machines (PtU) of the Technical University of Darmstadt hosted the final colloquium of the Priority Program (SPP) 1640 – Joining by Plastic Deformation.

Hessen creates knowledge – this was the motto under which two PtU scientific staff members were represented at the Hessentag in Bad Hersfeld.
