PtU in hoch³FORSCHEN for energy-efficient production

Andreas Wächter and Lukas Kluy are actually working on titanium alloys for dental implants. Quasi incidentally, they developed a model to increase the energy efficiency of production processes.

Usually, a process is optimised in terms of energy once the individual steps have been determined. Then, for example, waste heat is used here and there, a component is insulated or the control technology is optimised. In the current issue of hoch³, Wächter and Kluy report on how the great freedom of design at the beginning of process development can be used for energy efficiency.
