Experimentelle Untersuchung der Verbindungsqualität von mechanisch vorbehandelten Fügepartnern beim Kollisionsschweißen

Experimental investigation of the joint quality of mechanically pre-treated joining partners during collision welding

Bachelorthesis

In order to counteract climate change and the scarcity of resources, functional lightweight construction involving multi-material construction is gaining in importance. This is used, for example, in electromobility and aerospace. A major challenge here is the safe joining of dissimilar materials, e.g. aluminium and steel.

One possible solution is collision welding. In collision welding, the joining partners are joined by plastic deformation by colliding with each other through a relative movement. The aim of this work is to investigate the influence of damaged joining surfaces on the joining result. The work packages of the scientific work are

  • Tests on the Institute's own test rig for an aluminium-aluminium material combination
  • Commissioning of an ultrasonic measuring device to analyse the resulting weld zones
  • Application of ultrasonic testing to an aluminium-steel material combination

A personal meeting can be arranged to discuss further details.

High-speed recording of the collision process
