Entwicklung und Auslegung eines adaptiven Antriebskonzepts für das flexible Profilwalzen

Development and design of an adaptive drive concept for flexible profile rolling

Advanced Design Project (ADP)

Profiling rolling is an important process in forming technology for the manufacture of fasteners. The aim of this thesis is to develop an innovative drive concept that enables flexible control of the rolling kinematics, thereby opening up new possibilities for process optimization.

As part of the work, existing plant concepts are analyzed and a new approach for variable feed and adjustment movements is developed. Particular attention is paid to the possibility of specifically adjusting individual roll jaw segments during the process. The design is implemented in SolidWorks and can optionally be supplemented by dynamic simulations.

The following work packages can be part of the work. The specific tasks will be developed in a joint discussion:

  • Training in profile rolling technology, drive systems, and design methodology according to VDI 2221
  • Analysis of existing machines and development of a new kinematic concept
  • Design of the main components and integration of servo drives in SolidWorks
  • Optional: Simulation of machine dynamics and evaluation of controllability
