Welcome, Florian Geister!

2025/01/29

Florian Geister has joined our team as a research associate at PtU on November 1st, 2024.

Mr Geister is responsible for the project ‘Prediction of damage – Num. damage prediction in profile rolling’ .

The aim of this project is to develop failure mechanisms such as internal cracks and necking in profile rolling using innovative damage models in finite element simulation. This should make product development processes in forming technology shorter, more efficient, more cost-effective and more sustainable in the future.

Mr Geister has been working as a student assistant at PtU since 2021 and has also written his bachelor's and master's theses at the institute.

In his bachelor's thesis, Mr Geister investigated the production of nanostructured stainless steel using the ‘Equal Channel Angular Swaging’ (ECAS) process. In the future, this should make materials in medical technology more resistant to bacteria and favour bone growth on implants, for example.

The master's thesis is entitled ‘Development and numerical simulation of a model test to determine the parameters of damage models for flat die profile rolling’. In this hybrid work of simulation and practical tests, initial findings for the research project were obtained.

We look forward to a successful collaboration!
