FEM working group in Meinerzhagen at Otto Fuchs KG

On 18.06.2024 our employees Christian Siedbürger and Jonas Launhardt took part in the FEM working group of the Industrieverband Massivumformung (IMU). This time, the FEM working group took place at Otto FUCHS KG – a leading company in the field of hot forging based in Meinerzhagen. During the meeting, our employees were able to exchange views on current topics and issues in forming simulation and gain new inspiration for the development of optimized FEM models in the discussions.

A particular problem for the accuracy of forming simulations is the modeling of friction, as both the complexity of the influencing variables and their determination is difficult or only possible with great effort. In this context, Mr. Launhardt presented a research report on the topic of “AI-supported friction models”. With the help of neural networks in combination with numerical simulations, AI-based friction models should make the complexity manageable and thus provide more accurate friction values for the application. During the subsequent factory tour of OTTO FUCHS KG, our employees were able to gain new insights into the impressive and exciting production in the field of hot forming. A cozy dinner rounded off the day.

PtU would like to thank all members of the FEM working group and OTTO FUCHS KG for the productive and very informative day!
