Welcome, Johannes Hofmann!

Since 01.10.2023 Johannes Hofmann joined our team as a research assistant at PtU. Mr. Hofmann is part of the project “RofoInRichtungKI” . The aim of the project is the development, production and validated industrial use of an intelligent straightener for roll forming processes, which senses profile errors on the basis of process data and links them to the correct positioning of the straightening rolls on the basis, in order to be able to support production specialists in the adjustment process.

Mr. Hofmann already gained experience in the acquisition and analysis of process data in roll forming processes in the context of energy balancing during his studies as part of the “Forming your Future” excellence program. In addition, he gained extensive insights into the processing of image and time series data using AI methods in production engineering by working on two study projects.

He also conducted his master's thesis at the institute. The thesis is published under the title “Prognosis of tool wear in stamping processes under consideration of fluctuating material properties.” In it, he investigated the influence of stochastically occurring process uncertainties on the prediction accuracy of AI approaches.
