Girls’ Day – “Sustainability in production technology”

2023/05/03

This year, the PtU again offered on 27.04.23 a workshop as part of Girls' Day, in which schoolgirls aged 13-18 took part. The topic was “Sustainability in production technology”.

After a short introduction to the basics of forming technology, the schoolgirls were given an exciting insight into research into the forming of paper as a sustainable raw material. The students were able to construct tools for paper forming with their own designs as well as to produce by means of additive manufacturing processes to reshape paper with individual patterns.

Strengthened by lunch in the canteen, the students then dealt with the technical basics of mechanical engineering. After an introduction to the motion sequences of various machines, the students were able to experience the effect of friction with different material pairings. The workshop was rounded off by demonstrations of various forming processes for sheet metal and solid metal forming in the institute's test halls.
