Welcome, Christian Siedbürger!

2023/03/09

Since 01.03.2023 Christian Siedbürger joins our team as a research associate at PtU. Within the department of tribology, Mr. Siedbürger deals with the modification as well as the effects of forming-induced residual stresses by development of new tool systems.

Mr. Siedbürger has already been involved in tool and machine development at PtU during his academic studies. In a project work entitled “Gearbox design and construction for the realization of oscillating linear movements”, he and his project team developed a prototype for linear friction welding. From the project work, a gear system was engineered that converts the rotation of an electric motor into a stroke-variable oscillating motion. In another project called “Development of an active tool cooling system for cold forging processes”, Mr. Siedbürger and his team were able to deal with the design of a cooling system for impact extrusion. Here, the system serves to prevent the premature failure of the lubricant MoS2 due to the cooling of the thermally highly loaded zones within the tool.

We are looking forward to a successful collaboration!
