On 24 June, Prof. Dr Steven R. Schmid paid a visit to our institute. He is an expert in tribology, forming technology and additive manufacturing and teaches at the University of North Carolina in the USA. (Source)

Some of PtU's doctoral students took the opportunity to present their current research results to Prof. Dr. Schmid.

Together with the institute's director Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dipl.-Wirtsch.-Ing. Groche, this led to a lively discussion which generated new ideas for the projects. Strengthened by the lunch break in the canteen, our guest was guided by Prof. Dr. Groche through the experimental fields of the institute, where exciting equipment such as the rotary swaging plant and the prototype of the 3D servo press were presented. The latter was developed and constructed here at the Institute. Prof. Dr. Schmid was enthusiastic about the wide range of possibilities available to the PtU through the abundance of experimental equipment. His visit was a great enrichment for all employees of the Institute.
