Successful Disputation of Julian Sinz at PtU

On 26.04.2022, the disputation of our former scientific employee Julian Sinz took place in digital form. His dissertation is entitled “Theory and Practice of Combined Roller and Plain Bearings for Press Construction”.

Mr. Sinz dealt with the development of combined roller and plain bearings. Using simulations and experiments, the dominant influencing parameters for the design of such bearings could be determined and their behaviour in various operating scenarios was investigated. With the help of a test rig, on which test bearings are monitored by a variety of sensors, important findings were obtained about the development of the load ratio in operation and the influence of manufacturing and assembly on the bearing behaviour.

His work provides the basis for scaling combined bearings for use in forming machines and for influencing and controlling of the bearing properties via actuators.
