DAAD personal exchange program (PPP) at Deakin University in Australia

2019/12/17

As part of the DAAD* exchange program “Laser heat assisted roll forming of new high strength Aluminium alloys for weight reduction in transport”, two scientific research assistants of the Institute of Production Engineering and Forming Machines Lukas Schell and Timon Suckow visited Deakin University in Australia for one month. In summer, two guest research fellows from Australia were already at the PtU (TU Darmstadt) to conduct experiments on the local softening of aluminium sheets by means of laser heat treatment.

In Australia, roll forming experiments, heat treatments and pin-on-disc tests with the high-strength aluminium alloy EN AW-7075 were carried out as part of the LOEWE Allegro project. Another visit to Deakin University is planned in 2020 to finalize the trials and intensify the collaboration.

Special thanks go to the DAAD for the financial support of the exchange, as well as to the partners and organizers at Deakin University.
