„Hessen-Technikum: Zukunft einfach ausprobieren!“ visited PtU

2017/03/17

Hochschule Darmstadt − University of Applied Sciences − prepares and conducts a six-month program called Hessen-Technikum especially for high school graduates with a strong interest in STEM fields. The aim of the program is to prepare the participants for their study and career choice due to a combination of internships and trial courses.

„Hessen-Technikum: Zukunft einfach ausprobieren!“ visited PtU

On February 22, 2017 this year’s participants of the Hessen-Technikum visited PtU to get familiar with mechanical and process engineering studies and forming technology at TU Darmstadt. A presentation of general mechanical engineering studies was followed by a description of the structure, functioning and research fields of PtU. Part of the research conducted at the institute was illustrated based on the process of combined roll splitting and roll forming. Finally, the laser welding of a strengthening web on a sheet metal was demonstrated.

To round off the visit, the participants had the possibility to question two research assistants, Annemie Kleemann and Peter Sticht about personal experiences related to mechanical and process engineering studies at TU Darmstadt.

At this point, our special thanks go to the organisers Prof. Dr. Yvonne Haffner (Hochschule Darmstadt) and Dr. Claudia Breuer (TU Darmstadt), for the opportunity to assist prospective students in their choice of studies and profession and to enthuse them for mechanical and process engineering and forming technology.
