Charakterisierung von Aluminium- und Kupferfolien für Mikroumformprozesse

Characterization of Aluminum and Cupper Foils for Micro forming Processes

Masterthesis, Bachelorthesis, Advanced Design Project (ADP)

Microforming is a specialized forming process on a microscopic scale that is used for the production of high-precision components with dimensions in the milli- or even micrometer range. In contrast to conventional forming, microforming presents specific challenges — including the influence of grain size, increased frictional effects, and the high demands on dimensional and shape tolerances.

The aim of this work is the characterization of thin aluminum and copper foils as well as the simulation of the forming process using the finite element method (FEM).For the experimental investigations, two newly acquired machines are available, which were specially designed for micro sheet metal testing.

The investigations include:

  • Material characterization of aluminum and copper foils under uniaxial loading ( Tensile test)
  • Material characterization under biaxial loading (bulge test)
  • Determination of the forming limit curve (FLC)
  • Simulation of the forming process using FEM
