Experimental Analysis of Heat Transfer Between Solid Contact Surfaces Under the Influence of Different Interfacial Materials
Masterthesis, Research Assistant, Bachelorthesis, Advanced Design Project (ADP)
Where hot and cold surfaces come into contact, heat transfer plays a crucial role in the success of thermally driven processes—such as in hot forming operations, where heated components are introduced into cold tools and shaped. The interfacial heat transfer coefficient (IHTC) provides a quantitative description of this process and can be determined experimentally. The IHTC is required, for example, as a key parameter in numerical simulations. The aim of this work is the systematic investigation of the influence of lubricants and interfacial materials on the heat transfer coefficient. The planned work packages include:
The following work packages are planned:
- Review of the state of the art
- Commissioning of the existing IHTC test rig
- Identification and compensation of inertial phenomena
- Documentation of results
The specific tasks can be adapted individually.
