Hana Kim has been joining our team as a research associate at the PtU since October 1, 2025. Ms. Kim is starting her work with the project -> ConTRoll – Control for Profile Straightening in Flexible T-Profile Rolling. She is working on a flexible rolling process for the subsequent introduction of variable wall thicknesses into extruded T-profiles, which leads to unwanted profile curvatures in the vertical direction.

The goal of the project is profile straightening using model-predictive control of the curvature during T-profile rolling by changing the peripheral speed of the rolls for different profile geometries and infeed parameters.

Ms. Kim previously completed her master's thesis at the PtU in the field of paper forming. In it, she investigated the effect of prestressing on deep drawing results.
