IMU scholarship for Janek Reisener
Award for sustainable innovation in bulk forming
2025/07/03
When technical expertise meets innovative thinking, solutions for tomorrow’s challenges emerge. Janek Reisener was honored with the prestigious IMU Scholarship 2025 during the 87th Annual Conference of the German Association for Bulk Forming (Industrieverband Massivumformung e. V.) – one of the most significant awards for young researchers in the field. The award ceremony took place in the elegant setting of the Ameron Hotel Königshof in Bonn, attended by around 150 experts from industry, research, and academia who came together to celebrate the commitment of young talents actively shaping the future of manufacturing.
The IMU Scholarship recognizes students who not only excel academically but also contribute through application-oriented research and a strong spirit of innovation. Mr. Reisener exemplifies this combination and impressed the jury across the board. His bachelor's thesis on the tribological properties of coatings in cold extrusion provides valuable insights for increasing process efficiency. Now, as a participant in the Excellence Program at the PtU of TU Darmstadt, he is taking a bold step beyond improving existing processes – by developing an entirely new process concept. His current research focuses on creating a novel recycling method that transforms by-products from forming processes into high-quality semi-finished products. This approach aims to use resources more efficiently and close industrial material cycles. The relevance of this work is especially high, as raw materials typically account for the largest share of CO₂ emissions in bulk forming processes. His research addresses this key leverage point and holds great potential for advancing sustainable manufacturing.
We sincerely congratulate Mr. Janek Reisener on this well-deserved recognition and wish him continued success, curiosity, and the same inspiring passion for sustainable forming technologies on his scientific journey.
