New Tensile Testing Machine at PtU

2025/04/23

As part of the research project “IFEtargetryHUB – Inertial Fusion Energy (IFE) Targetry HUB for DT Inertial Fusion”, the Institute for Production Engineering and Forming Machines (PtU) has recently acquired a new testing machine for material characterization.

The AllroundLine Zwick Z030 has a maximum test force of 30 kN and is ideally suited for tensile, compression, and bending tests. Thanks to its high precision, the machine ensures high-quality measurement results and allows experiments to be conducted on metals, plastics, composites, and other materials.

The new testing machine enables advanced investigations of the mechanical properties of various materials, which are essential for the successful simulation of material behavior and facilitate efficient integration into production processes. It will play a central role in our research projects on material characterization.

The machine was funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as part of the funding guideline “Basic Technologies for Fusion – On the Way to a Fusion Power Plant”, under the funding code 13F1013I.
