The annual company outing of the PtU took place on the 31^st of October 2024. On this occasion the PtU staff visited the production site of KS Gleitlager GmbH in St. Leon-Rot. After a warm welcome and a mutual presentation of current scientific and production-related issues, the PtU employees were given an impressive tour through the plant. Thereby, the PtU staff was given an extremely interesting insight into the process chain for manufacturing plain bearings for a wide range of applications. This ranges from the casting of aluminium slabs to strip rolling and coating by sintering to the final forming of the bearing shells.

During the subsequent technical exchange, current topics relating to process monitoring and digitalisation of processes as well as ideas for economically and ecologically sustainable bearing production were discussed.
