New automated linear flow splitting system arrives at PtU

The automated linear flow splitting and split profile bending system developed as part of the BioStruX project has been delivered to the Smart FormING Center after a long period of planning, manufacturing, and assembly. This marked an important milestone in the project project. “Bionic lightweight structures based on branched sheet metal”
The system has many degrees of freedom following the capability of fully actuator-based adjustment of the rolls and extensive measurement technology for studying the continuous forming process. Thus, sheet metal can be linear flow splitted in bidirectional reversing operation and bent around the vertical axis in the final pass. This system will be used for industrial research to increase the technological maturity of linear flow splitting and split profile bending.
