The future of the German titanium industry – research and application at the Technical Committee for Titanium Materials

The Titanium Technical Committee meeting provided an excellent platform to discuss both traditional and innovative approaches to titanium processing. The event reflected the broad spectrum of current research and developments in the field of titanium alloys, including the emerging importance of additive manufacturing.
In addition to innovative projects such as the optimization of the microstructure through thermo-mechanical treatments or the avoidance of microtextured zones after titanium forming, additive manufacturing is becoming increasingly important in the world of titanium. The first components are already being produced for the aviation industry, as impressively demonstrated by Howmet Engine Products TITAL GmbH.
