Since May 2023, the PtU has been a partner in the research project. The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as part of the StAmping Insights programme. The aim is to develop an application adaptive camera system for latency optimised control and regulation of highly dynamic forming processes. “Photonik Forschung Deutschland”
Forming processes are among the most cost effective processes in the manufacturing industry and are characterised by a tightly toleranced and constant product quality with simultaneously high production rates. However, the complexity of such processes and the associated process- and semi-product-related uncertainties conflict with reliable process control. Especially in combination with high process speeds of up to 1,000 processed components per minute, even short machine downtimes or process times in which defective components are produced lead to reduced profitability. In order to ensure the competitiveness of manufacturing companies in this area in the future, monitoring and automated adaptation of the process to changing boundary conditions based on optical data is necessary.
The aim of the joint project is to develop an optical system in the form of a modular system that enables the monitoring and automated adaptation of fast running production processes to changing boundary conditions.
