Welcome, Felix Georgi!

Since 2023/07/01, Felix Georgi has been strengthening our team as a research associate at PtU. Mr Georgi is part of the project “StAmping Insights”. The aim of this project is the realisation of an application-adaptive system for monitoring and automated adaptation of fast-running production processes to changing boundary conditions. This is achieved by developing an optical system, a hybrid database and AI-supported control models in combination with intelligent actuators.

Mr Georgi already worked on the development of AI-supported process monitoring during his studies. Among other things, he developed a system for stroke-by-stroke optical detection of tool-wear in a highly dynamic stamping process together with a project team. The team realised an analysis of the spatial wear distribution on the cutting tool by using convolutional neural networks.

He also conducted his Master's thesis at the institute, which is entitled “AI-supported trajectory planning in a deep-drawing process on a 3D servo press”. In it, he investigated an approach to realising a product controller that is able to compensate for unknown process influences. The focus of the thesis was on the optimisation of the component quality with the help of reinforcement learning.
