Excursion to the Schunk Group with the winners of the Tdf Practice Insight

As part of the practical insight of the lecture “Technology of Manufacturing Processes”, the Schunk Group, based in Heuchelheim, gave a group of 21 PtU students and staff a deep insight into the process flows and potentials of powder metallurgy.

The excursion took place on 20.01.2023 and began with an exciting overview of the company history, the corporate philosophy and the product portfolio of the Schunk Group. This was followed by a guided tour through various production halls, during which the process chain from powder to the ready-to-ship component was followed. In particular, the forming machines used, the very high degree of automation as well as the cleanliness and organisation of production caused enthusiasm.

At the final joint lunch in the Schunk Group's own canteen, the PtU group was able to exchange ideas with the employees of the Schunk Group.
