Stefan Volz receives OTTO-KIENZLE Prize

2022/07/11

Our research assistant Stefan Volz was awarded the OTTO-KIENZLE Prize of the Industrieverband Massivumformung e.V. (Industrial Association for Solid Forming) on 24.06.2022. The OTTO-KIENZLE Prize is awarded to scientists who have made a special contribution to the development of results and their practical implementation through their collaboration in joint research.

Mr Stefan Volz, who has been working as a research assistant at PtU since January 2020, investigated the simulation-based design of section rolling processes as part of the IGF 20722N project, which is part of joint industrial research. Profile rolling, often better known as thread rolling, is a widespread cold massive forming process used in the production of connecting parts. The results achieved by Mr Volz make it possible to map complex friction phenomena using finite element simulations, which means that the process of profile rolling can be used more flexibly and efficiently in the future.

The prize was presented by Thomas Hüttenhein, President of the Industrieverband Massivumformung e.V. (Industrial Association for Solid Forming), during the 2022 General Meeting and is endowed with EURO 2,500.
