Collaborative robot at PtU – EU-React project picks up speed

As part of the EU-React project funded by the European Union, the Institute's machinery will in future be reinforced by a cobot (collaborative robot).

The EU-React research project aims to develop an end-to-end digitised and flexible manufacturing cell for the experimental field of the 21st century. Against the backdrop of pandemics and changing work models, industrial production and research operations are to be further developed towards remote compatibility in the future.

The cooperative robot UR10e from Universal RobotsTM is an important component in this. As part of the planned production cell, it is characterised by a flexible and intuitive operating concept. Coupled with its communication interfaces and technical performance data, it offers a wide range of possible applications in production and forming technology. Especially the press-robot communication is the focus of the current project.

The cobot has met with enthusiasm from doctoral students, workshop staff and employees alike and has already inspired numerous questions.

The PtU would like to thank the company Willich Elektrotechnik GmbH for their support in configuring the system.

This project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund as part of the Union's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
