Successful disputation of Johannes Hohmann at PtU

2020/10/20

Last Wednesday, October 14, 2020, Dr.-Ing Johannes Frank Hohmann successfully defended his doctoral thesis entitled “Determination and evaluation of process parameters for online com-ponent and process monitoring in shearing processes”.

In the first digital doctoral examination at the Institute of Production Engineering and Forming Machines, Dr.-Ing Hohmann presented his far-reaching findings on the digitalization and data-supported monitoring of forming processes. In this context, he presented a method to identify and qualify process parameters, based on force sensors, of a blanking process to describe the current process state as well as the component quality. By implementing these novel process parameters in existing monitoring systems, the information content and the quality of monitoring systems could be significantly increased. At the same time, it could be shown that by adapting existing systems, additional investments for further measurement technology are no longer nec-essary and the economic burden on manufacturing companies can be reduced.

In addition to his professional successes, Dr.-Ing Hohmann has strongly influenced the institute in his role as a scientific employee and has supported it in many ways.

We wish Dr.-Ing Hohmann all the best for his future and his new professional challenges!
