International – Kick-Off-Meeting in Malmö

2020/02/27

As part of an international collaboration group PtU is collaborating with the Spanish Mondragon University and Arduino Education with the common goal of engaging students in secondary schools in programming and engineering. Within this project, the students are playfully introduced to sensors and microprocessors – essential skills for tomorrow’s engineers in the age of Industry 4.0.

Additionally, the students learn about the fundamentals of production engineering. For this purpose, our Spanish colleagues designed a miniature forming press, enabling the students to perform basic metal forming process themselves. This allows the students to learn the rather abstract topic of production engineering first hand, and hands on!

Equipped with basic knowledge in programming and production engineering, the project partners hope to steer students into the direction of pursuing a university degree in this field.

During a workshop at the Swedish “Arduino Verkstad”, taking place from February 3nd to February 4th 2020, the content of teaching as well as a first prototype of the miniature press were introduced and tested. Besides the technical workshop, the individual members of this truly international team met in person for the first time.

We would like to thank Arduino Education for their warm welcome in wintry Sweden, and are looking forward to continue our already excellent collaboration with them as well as Mondragon University.
