The center, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy, is currently advancing into the next funding period and has been extended by two years until February 2021

Founded in February 2016, the Mittelstand 4.0 Kompetenzzentrum in Darmstadt has been in operation for three years now and represents a central point of contact for SMEs and workshops all over Hesse.

In the next funding period, a total of eight partners from science and practice will bundle their expertise on digitization and industry 4.0 topics in the Darmstadt competence center. Four institutes of the Technical University of Darmstadt, two Fraunhofer Institutes as well as the Industrie- und Handelskammer Darmstadt Rhein Main Neckar and the Handwerkskammer Frankfurt-Rhein-Main are represented.

In addition to training courses and consulting on the digitization topic, the competence center continues to support the realization and support of customized industry 4.0 solutions in companies. The Production Engineering and Forming Machines Department (PtU) is involved in the topics “Use of Sensors in Forming Technology Production” and “New Business Models in Digitized Production”.
