October 2nd, 2018 | Workshop with industry representatives

2018/11/13

On 2. October 2018, the members of DFG priority program 1640 (SPP1640) and industrial delegates from twenty different companies gathered at the “Erholungsgesellschaft Aachen” to participate in a one-day workshop on joining by plastic deformation. This event which was jointly hosted by Institute of Applied Mechanics (IFAM, RWTH-Aachen) and Institute of Metal Forming (IBF, RWTH-Aachen) aimed at transferring the findings of the SPP1640 project into industrial applications.

At the beginning of the meeting, a keynote lecture was given by Mr. Stéphane Andrietti from the company Transvalor. Thereafter, the current results of all subprojects and the existing challenges related to the different joining techniques were discussed within two separate presentations. In the afternoon poster session, the coordinators of subprojects had the possibility to exchange ideas and present the outcomes of their work to the industrial guests which leaded to fruitful discussions.

We would like to thank the IFAM and the IBF for their hospitality and Mr. Andrietti for the interesting talk. Furthermore, hereby we want to express our gratuity to DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) for the support of the priority program.
