Visit of the Hessian State Secretary within the research project EfoS, funded by LOEWE-3

2018/11/06

On 25.10.2018 the grant contract for the LOEWE-funded research project EfoS (“Surface modification in car body part production”) was handed over at the PtU by the Hessian State Secretary Patrick Burghardt.

Starting with a short welcome by Professor Groche and the presentation of the strategic orientation of the institute, the core of the project was presented by the project partners OPEL Automobile, Filzek TRIBOtech and PtU. The aim of the project is to better map the surface transformation during the forming process in order to be able to design subsequent processes more resource-efficiently. On the one hand experimental investigations and on the other hand numerical models are used.

At the end of the event, the test field tour was conducted, presenting selected projects and spin-offs in the context of industry 4.0 and digitisation. State Secretary Burghardt was particularly enthusiastic about the 3D Servo Press project and praised the TU Darmstadt's commitment and the importance of universities taking on a pioneering role in the research landscape: “A university that dares nothing new is out of place”.

We would like to thank the State of Hesse for their support and for the visit of Mr. Patrick Burghardt, Mrs. Susanne Schlag and Mr. Frank Syring. We would also like to thank the project partners OPEL Automobile and FILZEK TRIBOtech.
