Excursion to Römheld & Moelle Eisengießerei GmbH with the winners of the TdF case study “Casting Optimization”.

On January 31st after a short night, the winners of the third TdF case study “Casting Optimization” were able to gain a deep insight into the casting production of large, unique forming tools and plant components.
The extensive guided tour covered all production steps involved, from mould making up to the finished components. In addition, the students were able to observe a furnace tap and the subsequent casting, which never ceases to impress even experienced employees.
Case studies are voluntary tasks that students and teams of students work on in addition to the lecture “Technology of Manufacturing Processes”. These tasks are developed in cooperation with companies from the industry. This enables mechanical engineering students to gain experience in industrial applications related to the topics studied in the first semester and to gain an initial insight into possible areas of their future professional field.
