Excursion with the winners of the TdF case study “Factory Planning” to b&m in Rohrbach

2017/12/12

Thanks to the cooperation between baier & michels and PtU, the winners of the first TdF case study of the winter semester 2017/18 were able to gain deep insights into the production of a massive former.

This allowed the freshers to consolidate the theoretical content of the lecture with real-world impressions and to experience a progressive production line. This was made possible by the help of the students in finding a solution to a real problem on the topic of factory planning.

After a short presentation of the company and the offered product range, Mr. Jesse guided the participants around the location. The process-oriented tour went through the development and sales department as well as production, quality control and shipping. The students were able to gain an immediate impression of the manufacturing steps involved in screw production. Parallel to the tour many technical as well as commercial questions could be discussed.

Case studies are tasks that are voluntarily dealt by students (teams) as part of the lecture “Technologie der Fertigungsverfahren”. The tasks are developed in cooperation with companies from the industry. Thus, already in the first semester, the acquired knowledge can be transferred to industrial applications. In addition, the case studies provide a first insight into possible sections of the later job description.

We would like to thank baier & michels GmbH and Mr. Jesse for the hospitality and the interesting insights into the massive forming and factory planning.
