October 18th, 2017 | 9th working group meeting

On October 18^th, 2017, the Institute for Forming Technology and Lightweight Construction (IUL) at TU Dortmund hosted the 9^th working group meeting of the DFG Focus Program 1640 (“Joining by plastic deformation”). In addition to presentations of the most recent research results of all the subprojects, it was discussed how to improve the comparability of the various forming and material joining processes. All projects agreed that benchmarking should be carried out on the basis of model geometries. Following the intensive professional exchange, the 40 participants had the opportunity to visit the research facilities of the IUL.

Within the meeting, it was also decided that the final event of the last funding period will take place in June 2019 in Darmstadt. In this occasion, industry representatives, as well as researchers are invited to discuss the results of the last six years of research with future applicants so plan possible industrial implementations.
