2017/03/01

The European Cold Rolled Section Association (ECRA) donates annually a study prize of 1000 Euro for the project lecture of the collaborative research center (CRC666) entitled, ”Innovative steel metal products – From conceptual design to final component”. The ECRA study prizes awarded for the winner groups of winter semesters 2015–16 and 2016–17 were handed over during the evening event of the 10 th symposium on roll forming by the chairman of ECRA, Mr. Ekkehard Böhm (Tillmann Profil).

The project lecture is an interdisciplinary lecture for students participating from different disciplines. The students are divided into groups and assigned a common design exercise involving linear flow splitting and bend splitting processes. Within the project lecture, all groups attend thematically co-ordinated lectures and perform exercises every week. In the end, each group present their solution and the best solution is awarded the ECRA study prize.

In winter term 2015–16, students designed a guide rail of the sliding door of an underground train. The winners are Özer Üngör, Fabian Beisenherz, Daniel Strobel, Jan Süßenguth, Katharina Maier and Susanne Mildenberger. In winter term 2016–17, students designed a functionally integrated guide rail of an automated bicycle garage for the inner city area. The winners for this winter term are Sophie Du Bois, Denis Kirpicev, Lukas Tjaden and Jannik von der Lühe who designed a vertical bicycle storage concept.

The PtU thanks the ECRA for donating the study prizes.
