Colloquium – Collaborative Research Center 805

Within the collaborative Research Center (CRC) 805 – Control of Uncertainty in Load-Carrying Structures in Mechanical Engineering – interdisciplinary colloquia are organized regularly.
It is the aim of these colloquia to provide fresh impulses for further investigations by external presentations. This time the PtU was able to acquire Dr. Marek Hauptmann from the Technische Universität Dresden. Within his research group (“Forming of fiber-based materials”), Dr. Hauptmann intensively investigates the deep drawing of paperboard. Based on the high inhomogeneity of paperboard, these processes are subject to uncertainty regarding the final part geometry as well as forming limits. Dr. Hauptmann exemplified the associated problems as well as the pursued approaches.
The PtU as well as the CRC 805 sincerely thank Dr. Hauptmann for the exchange of ideas and his visit in Darmstadt.
