Grant of the project funds for the third period of the priority program 1640 funded by the DFG

2016/09/05

The requested resources for the third period of the priority program 1640 (SPP1640), which is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), have been granted. We are pleased to continue together with 14 projects the cooperation in the research field of joining by forming.

In addition to being the coordinator of the priority program 1640 “joining by plastic deformation”, which is funded by the DFG, PtU is also represented by two research projects within the SPP. The research proposals for the third and final funding period, which will last until late 2018, have been submitted in April. PtU’s two research projects deal with the formation of a metallurgical joint and are granted for another two years.

The research project, which Mrs Christiane Gerlitzky is working on, deals with the development of a metallurgical joint during cold extrusion. The mechanisms during impact welding are investigated with the help of a model experiment in the project, which is executed by Mr Benedikt Niessen.
