Interdisciplinary Summerschool with Deakin University Geelong, Australia

2016/07/06

Ten PhD students of the Collaborative Research Center 666 (CRC 666) had the opportunity to participate in a Summer School together with the Institute for Frontier Materials (IFM) at the Deakin University in Geelong (Australia) and get an impression of the research work of their colleagues on the other side of the world. After a two-week visit to Australia in the spring of this year, ten Australian scientists came to visit TU Darmstadt.

Besides the presentation of the research activities of the participating institutions (Deakin University: IFM; TU Darmstadt: SFB 666), cultural tours and interesting industry visits in Australia and Germany have been offered as well. However, the interdisciplinary work on joint publications is in the focus of the collaboration. The topics of the joint works cover areas of forming technology, material science, structural durability and mathematical optimization. The Summer School set the course for an international cooperation, whereby the work will be continued and published in the coming months.

We thank the IFM in Geelong for the great hospitality and look forward to our future cooperation.
