Flexible Production Plant for Branched Multiple Chamber Profiles

  • Coil weight: max. 10 t
  • Tensile strength of the sheet: max. 1200 N/mm² (2 mm thickness, 100 m/min)

Within the collaborative research center (SFB) 666, which is funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), an innovative concept for flexible production is developed. The innovative forming process linear flow splitting, which allows the production of branched profiles with an integral sheet metal design, is combined with additional forming, cutting and joining processes. The goal is a flexible and continuous production of several branched and/or multiple chamber profiles made of steel or aluminum.

The process chain for the production of branched multiple chamber profiles consists of the following individual processes:

  • Linear flow splitting
  • Linear bend splitting
  • Roll forming
  • Laser welding
  • Cutting

In cooperation with the Institute of Production Management, Technology and Machine Tools:

  • High-speed milling (stationary)
  • High-speed milling (dynamically)

All processes can be rearranged within the whole facility in contrast to conventional roll forming lines.
