During the three-day meeting, members of U.S. and German universities and representatives of NSF and DFG strengthen international collaboration in the area of modern manufacturing technologies.

During the three-day meeting, members of U.S. and German universities and representatives of NSF and DFG strengthen international collaboration in the area of modern manufacturing technologies. This includes, besides getting to know the structures in science and technology, the establishment of new project models to help realizing future projects.

After the kick-off at The Hessian State Archives in Darmstadt and a visit to the Institutes of Production Technology and Forming Machines (PtU) as well as Production Management, Technology and Machine Tools (PTW), the workshop leads the participants to Schweinfurt for an industrial visit at ZF Friedrichshafen. As a role model for advanced manufacturing, the tool shop and the torque converter production plant are introduced. After a cultural program in Würzburg, the Workshop proceeds at Fraunhofer IPA in Stuttgart. After a field visit, the results of the workshop are concluded and the next steps for a collaborative research in advanced manufacturing are discussed.

We would like to thank all participants for taking part in the “Advanced Manufacturing Workshop” and wish all guests a save return or onward journey.
