Excellence-Program Forming Technology – A Field Report

My name is @Jonas Launhardt and I have been working as a “Junior Scientist” at the Institute of Production Engineering and Forming Machines (PtU) for two semesters as part of the Excellence-Program Forming Technology.
The Excellence-Program Forming Technology offers a unique opportunity for students to independently conduct research on a scientific innovation topic in production technology. As part of this program, I am focusing on “Machine learning in the field of tribology of cold forging”. The program is characterised on the one hand by the great professional support and encouragement from the PtU. For example, I have already been able to successfully contribute to several scientific publications as part of my research and even presented our results at an international conference in Milan, Italy. On the other hand, participating in various staff events allows for early integration into the institute. Thus, the Excellence-Program Forming Technology offers a full insight into the institute and prepares very well for a potential PhD at PtU.
